Rubies in Greenland? FACET makes it possible in its new collection – DUPLEX

FIRE UNDER ICE - FACET

FACET launches its first classic jewellery collection together with Grendland Ruby and Tracemark, featuring rubies from the world’s most sustainable source. Rubies in Greenland? Yes, rubies from a mine near the town of Aappaluttoq (‘red stone’ in the local language), about 150 km from Nuuk, the country’s capital. These rubies are mined in a responsible manner, complying with the strictest environmental, mining, human rights, labour and education practices at every step of the value chain. This is why this mine has been labelled as the world’s most sustainable new ruby source.

FACET forms an alliance with Tracemark and Greenland Ruby to launch the most sustainable classic jewellery collection in the world, with the oldest and most sustainable rubies on the planet to date (more than 3 billion years old according to geological experts who have studied the area). In this way, traceability is incorporated for the first time in coloured gemstones, demonstrable at source and throughout the entire value chain.

FIRE UNDER ICE

The exclusive FIRE UNDER ICE collection of 27 pieces is made up of rings, pendants and earrings with diamonds and rubies from Greenland, as the central stones of the pieces, fully traceable and with a certificate of provenance and is produced with traceable recycled gold with CoC certificate (issued by RJC). Thanks to the technology offered by Tracemark, the end consumer can scan a QR code to obtain complete and real information on each of the steps that the jewellery and its components have undergone along the value chain until they reach their hands.

Greenland Ruby is the only RJC member colour stone mining company to exploit Greenland’s gemmological resources and extract the rubies from this new deposit, already considered to be the oldest rubies on earth. This operation meets the highest standards of humanity and social responsibility. The local workforce enjoys protections and working conditions guaranteed by Greenlandic law and the Greenlandic government and economy are stable.

“Once again, FACET takes a step forward towards a sustainable and responsible industry with a new alliance with Tracemark and Greenland Ruby. This collaboration symbolises our commitment to changing the industry towards one that is more transparent, responsible and innovative.” José Miguel Serret, CEO FACET.
